Dry Stone Walls

clive abben building a dry stone wall dry stone wall at warranwood

As As we all know, the English are passionate about their gardens and the quintessential English cottage garden holds many garden treasures. It was in England that Clive Abben developed his love of “dry stone walling” (dry rock walls), a construction technique appropriate for Australian gardens. Dry stone walls have survived in the U.K for centuries and are still serving their purpose today.
Dry stone walls and rock walls serve a practical landscape purpose, for example, they are great retaining walls and they will last the last the ravages of time whereas sleeper or timber retaining walls will need replacing.

Importantly, every rock wall is individual with the shape and colour of each stone (rock)showing different hues.  Dry stone walls (dry rock walls) are first and foremost a beautiful addition to the landscape of your garden. dry stone wall
